StepMania is a rhythm game for Windows, Mac, and Linux. It features 3D graphics, keyboard and joystick (including "dance pads" and other rhythm game input devices) support, and an editor for creating your own steps.

Who uses it?

People all around the world play StepMania.

What do I need to play it?

StepMania can be played with a keyboard or with dance pads. The game is much more involved and fun with a dance pad though.

How is it developed?

StepMania, in addition to being a fun game and great way to exercise, is also a learning tool for developers around the world. The source code to StepMania is freely available through our Google Code page. There are many young developers who got their start in C++ or in computer programming by modifying the StepMania code.
