I keep having a problem when I try to run Stepmania it says "This application has failed to start because MSVCP7.dll was not found" What should I do...?

TerranCmdr - I'm having the same damn problem... r3.0 works fine on my comp but the latest does this.

Heavenstar - The download for stepmania 3.9 rc3 is successful in my com but a error message appear too. It says " this application has failed to start because MSVCP71.dll was not found." How should it be solved since some other com with the same specifications as mine can operate the game successfully.

BlackHartRomance - I'm having the same exact problem as the guys above can anybody help out here?

Amisheskimoninja - THIS IS THE ANSWER TO YOUR PROBLEM. I had the same thing happen to me and I was able to fix it using this method. First do a google search for msvcp71.dll. It should be easy to find on the net. Open up the drive your OS is on and open the Windows folder. Then find the System32 folder and put the file in. If you are like me you will also need msvcr71.dll. Download it too and put it in the same place. Hope this helps. I have no idea why these link libraries are not already there on some windows installs.

Gelakinetic - Wne trying to install stepmania onto my Linux (linspire 5.0.59) i get this error message:

/root/Desktop/StepMania-3.9-rc3/stepmania: error while loading shared libraries: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

does anyone know where this elusive file is?

I was installing SM to my Windows 7 but towards the end of the installation a window pops up and says Fatal error during install. I can open the game and play the 2 songs but anything else it seems to freak out and crashes. Any thoughts on this one?
